A Word From Our Pastor
A Word from Our Pastor
When we worship, one of the elements of our service is affirming what we believe. We blend our voices together and say the Apostle’s Creed, one of many affirmations of faith that define our relationship with God. The first line of the creed says, “I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth.”
I have recently been reading the passage in Jeremiah 18:1-6. The word came to Jeremiah from God. God told Jeremiah to go to the potter’s house and once there, he would see the potter at work on the wheel. The potter would take a pile of clay and begin to shape and mold it into some kind of vessel. As he worked with the clay, he reworked it repeatedly until he was satisfied with the finished jar.
We have come to believe this is a story about our lives. God wants to rework and refine our lives, shape and mold us more into God’s image. How long does it take God to refine and shape us? It takes a lifetime. We should always be willing to place ourselves back on God’s wheel and allow God to shape and mold us more and more into God’s image of love, forgiveness, kindness, generosity, and grace. How about you? Want to take a spin on the wheel? Give yourself back to God. He will take care of the rest.
Peace and grace,
