Planting For A New Season

By now, many community farmers and professional farmers are in the midst of the growing season. Seeds have been planted, the ground has been watered, and farmers are enjoying some of the fruits of their labors. Farming can be a lot of fun, but it requires preparation and vigilance. Plant too early or in the wrong place, and you won’t have much to show for your efforts. Plant in depleted soil or forget to water your garden, and you will toil for a barren crop.

Planting well requires thoughtful planning and intentionality. And, when planting for the first time, it’s helpful to learn from the master gardeners, those who have been planting and growing crops for years. Those who have been farming for a long time can teach us a lot about planting for a new season.

Here at Odenville UMC, we are planting for a new season together. Through the scriptures, we can learn a lot from Jesus about planting well. Throughout July, we will learn about the importance of resting in Christ’s presence, finding wisdom, and the importance of faithful planting. Whether this is your first Sunday in church or one of many, I look forward to seeing you on Sunday!
